Ron Tulley – England Boxing

“Unorthobox have been working with England Boxing since 2017 and have advised the Governing Body on how it can make its clubs more inclusive for members with a disability.”

Having attended a session myself the overwhelming thoughts that stuck with me were just how much fun you can have in a boxing session with members of different ages and abilities. And secondly, how welcoming the coaches from Unorthobox are, ensuring all of us felt comfortable to get involved regardless of our background or experience.

Unorthobox in partnership with International Mixed Ability Sport (IMAS) ran numerous workshops for England Boxing nationwide supported by Sport England. Affiliated boxing clubs learned how they could make their clubs more inclusive.

The founder of Unorthobox was invited by England Boxing alongside a further 60 boxing coaches to give evidence to an independent national study on the effectiveness of boxing clubs in the community. Unorthobox also advises England Boxing when other organisations request guidance on working with disabled people. England boxing will continue to work with Unorthobox to help make our sport more inclusive.
